Reservoir Mixed Outflow Temperature Estimator (ReMOTE): Select U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Reservoirs in the Willamette Valley Project, OR
This application was developed to estimate the vertical withdrawal zone and overall mixed release water temperature using a user-provided vertical temperature profile and flow rates of selective withdrawal features at eight dams within the Willamette Valley Project that are operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Portland District. The application was developed using a macro-enabled Excel workbook that automates tasks using macros written in Visual Basic for Applications. The macros are based on the selective withdrawal methods implemented within the CE-QUAL-W2 version 4.2 two-dimensional flow and water-quality model (Wells, 2023). The selective withdrawal characteristics and bathymetric shape of the lake's cross-section near the dam were obtained from published CE-QUAL-W2 models (Stratton Garvin and others, 2023). Users of this application are cautioned that this application and the data therein are meant to guide planning and management decisions and provide insights but are subject to uncertainties in the data and inherent assumptions of the implemented algorithms.
