Hydrologist on the Data Management Team in the Washington Water Science Center

I am a hydrologist in the Washington Water Science Center (WAWSC) specializing in the use of innovative technologies to investigate surface water questions. Through the use of UAS (drones), non-contact methods for measuring discharge, and other methods, I try to quantify river behavior, stream response, and changes to systems over time. I started my USGS career as a hydrologic technician operating stream gaging field trips and applied my knowledge to help with investigative studies like groundwater-surface water interactions, glacier monitoring, and the geomorphology of river systems. I added the duties of the WAWSC Collateral Duty Safety Program Coordinator from 2013–2017, became the surface water local database manager from 2020–2022, and was converted to a hydrologist in 2022 to focus on innovative technologies within the Data program of the WAWSC. I have been a DOI/USGS drone pilot and WAWSC UAS program co-manager since 2016.
