Jared Kluesner, Ph.D.

I am a Research Geophysicist at the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center. I study offshore earthquake and landslide hazards using advanced geophysical and geological techniques.

My research at the USGS focuses on offshore earthquake and landslide hazards and their risks to critical energy infrastructure, coastal communities, and major port facilities. I study submarine faults, seismic activity, and seafloor instability through developing and using advanced marine geophysical methods and machine learning techniques to analyze complex datasets and improve hazard detection and characterization. My work helps inform hazard assessments and supports safer design and resilience planning in seismically active offshore and coastal environments. I received my Ph.D. at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and joined the USGS in the Spring of 2015.
