Jason C McVay
Jason McVay is a Supervisory Physical Scientist with the USGS Upper Midwest Water Science Center in St. Paul, MN.
Jason is currently the team lead for the Aquatic Contaminants and the Integrated Ecosystems Teams for the Upper Midwest Water Science Center. Since Joining the USGS Jason been involved with many different projects including lake and river bathymetry, ecological sampling for national programs such as NEET, CERCUS, and NWQP, along with local ecological sampling projects. He has been involved with several data collection advisory committees including the former Central Region Advisory Committee for Data (CRACD) and the Hydroacoustic Work Group (HaWG). He has also had the opportunity to lead the Hydrologic Network Branch Field Data Collection team and serve as a Technical Quality Assurance advisor for the Office of Quality Assurance. Jason’s current work focuses on leading staff scientist in developing water centered research projects that meet the needs of the American public. Some of these projects include collecting and analyzing water samples for known contaminants such as microplastics and perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
