Jeffrey R Barnard
Jeff is a Supervisory Hydrologic Technician with the Lakewood Field Office, Colorado Water Science Center, in Denver, CO.
Jeff began his USGS career in the Kansas Water Science Center as a Hydrologic Aid in 1985, advancing to Lead Hydrologic Technician in the Lawrence Field Office. In 2009 he transferred to the Lead Hydrologic Technician position in Denver Colorado, Lakewood Field Office, where he serves today as the Supervisory Hydrologic Technician for the Surface Water Data Program. During his time with the USGS, Jeff has developed expertise in hydrological instrumentation and telemetry, acoustic streamflow measurements, field methods and procedures, and data collection and publication. Jeff spent 6 years participating on the Central Region Advisory Committee for Data and in the associated data conferences and was involved with the Department of Interior safety program from 1997-2007, serving as the Kansas Safety Coordinator and a Watercraft Safety Instructor from 1997 to 2014. Jeff has participated in many training opportunities throughout the United States over the years including numerous Motorboat Operators Certification (MOCC) courses in the Midwest and Colorado, Introduction to Streamgaging in the Rocky Mountain Region and South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC) as well as several National Office of Quality Assurance (OQA) data reviews. He feels that the USGS has provided him with an extremely diverse and rewarding career.
