John (JD) Carlton
(He/him)JD is a Presidential Management Fellow at the USGS, currently working as an Intergovernmental and External Affairs Specialist. His prior background is in marine microbial ecology and other marine sciences.
Prior to USGS, JD worked as a Research Assistant while he completed his post-graduate education at the University of Texas at Austin. His past research focused on marine microbial ecology of the deep sea. Now at the USGS, JD works to connect science and the bureau's stakeholders by building and maintaining external relationships. He is currently a member of the USGS Office of Communications and Publishing External Affairs Team, focusing on intergovernmental and external affairs ranging from State-level governments to regional nongovernmental organizations and professional associations.
