Jon Janowicz

Biography

Jon Janowicz is a Supervisory Hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey at the New Jersey Water Science Center in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.  He oversees hydrologic studies and supervises a section of 10 scientists.   His section is involved in a variety of surface water studies including flood documentation; stream flow statistics; water use and water quality analysis as well as GIS and coding projects within New Jersey and across the country. 

He supports the management of the USGS NEPA compliance reviews of Environmental Impact Statements from other federal agencies for USGS Headquarters.  He is a USGS Certified Level II Contract Officer’s Technical Representative.  

He began working for the USGS in January 2016 after working 16 years with the National Flood Insurance Program within FEMA on Coastal and Riverine Flood Insurance Studies & Rate Maps and All- Hazards Mitigation Planning.  Jon is a registered professional engineer (PE).  He holds a BS and MS in Agricultural Engineering from Michigan State University.
