A message from Dr. James Leenhouts, Arizona Water Science Center Director

Hello and welcome to the Arizona Water Science Center Website! This site is your access to a wide variety of USGS water information about Arizona including historical and current data, interpretive reports, press releases, photos, videos and other information.

The Arizona Water Science Center is one of a network of centers that provide water information across the nation. Our focus is Arizona and our mission is to collect and interpret high quality, impartial scientific information to provide our resource managers and the public with the knowledge required to manage the critical water resources of Arizona and the Southwest.

Our staff comprises about 75 hydrologic experts and support staff – hydrologists, hydrologic technicians, IT specialists, and administrative staff – with a collective responsibility to execute the Center’s mission and a commitment to the highest professional standards for collection and dissemination of water- and earth-resources data, resource-assessment studies, and related research.  Much of our science is planned and completed in cooperation with a wide variety of other federal, state, and local agencies, universities, NGOs, and companies to address their specific needs for hydrologic data and interpretations.

The Arizona Water Science Center is headquartered in Tucson on the University of Arizona campus and includes three additional offices in Tempe, Flagstaff, and Yuma. Together these offices are geographically located in the State to respond to hydrologic events and to maintain liaison with cooperating agencies and organizations.

I invite you to explore our Website to learn more about who we are and the hydrologic data and studies that we continually produce. Should you not find the information you seek on our Website, please contact us at 520-670-3305 or send an e-mail message directly to me
