AVHRR Composites Data Dictionary
The Data Dictionaries are a set of information describing the contents, format, and structure of elements for EarthExplorer products.
- Field Definition: The number of spectral bands contained in the image.

Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000
Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.

- Field Definition: The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:

DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180
MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59
SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west

DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90
MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59
SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99
H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south
- Field Definition: The date the metadata record was added or last updated.
- Field Definition: The horizontal reference system associated with the image.

19 = Sphere; US only
0 = Clarke 1866; AK only
- Field Definition: The last day of data acquisition for source data used to create the composite.
- Field Definition: The naming convention of each scene is based on acquisition parameters.

RR = Composite Region where US = United States and AK = Alaska
YYYY = Year of Composite
SSS = Starting Julian day of composite
EEE = Ending Julian day of composite
NN = Number of Satellite

7 = 7 Day Composite

- Field Definition: The method used to represent the 3-dimensional surface of the earth.
Values:
11 = Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area
3 = Albers Conical Equal Area
- Field Definition: The area covered in the composite.

AK = Alaska
US = United States
- Field Definition: The number of the NOAA satellite carrying the AVHRR sensor that acquired the source data.
Example:
11 = NOAA-11
19 = NOAA1-9
- Field Definition: The first day of data acquisition for the source data used to create the composite.
- Field Definition: The acquisition year refers to the year in which the source data for the composite were acquired.
