Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles Data Dictionary

 

Acquisition Date

• Field Definition:  The acquisition date refers to the date the image was acquired. Make sure to use the specified user format when entering a date.

           Format:

            YYYY/MM/DD

            YYYY = Year

            MM = Month

            DD = Day

 

Band Type

• Field Definition:  The band type id is used to identify whether the data is black and white (BW) or color (RGB- red, green, and blue). Color (RGB) may be Color Infrared or Natural Color, refer to the Product Group for this information.

          Values:

          black and white (BW)

          red

          green

          blue

          red, green, and blue (RGB)

 

Browse Availability

• Field Definition:  This flag identifies whether the entity has a browse image available or not. A browse image provides the user with a visual overview of an inventory item.

          Values:

          Note: Preview images are resampled from the original data and may not accurately represent the full resolution product.

 

Cell ID

• Field Definition:  This number is assigned for internal NMD use only.

 

Coordinate System

• Field Definition:  Identifier indicating the coordinate system used in capturing digital information.

Coordinate Zone

• Field Definition:  In reference to UTM zones,the globe is divided into 60 zones, 6 degrees of longitude wide. Zones are numbered eastward, 1 to 60, beginning at 180 degrees (W long).

 

Coordinates - Decimal Degrees

• Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in decimal degrees for the following fields:

          Values:

          Scene Center Latitude and Longitude

          Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

          Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

 

          Latitude Format Decimal Degrees: -90.000 through 90.000

          Longitude Format Decimal Degrees: -180.000 through 180.000

 

          Number of decimal places will vary by dataset – check collection in EE.

 

Coordinates - Degrees, Minutes, Seconds

• Field Definition:  The latitude and longitude are provided in degrees, minutes, and seconds for the following fields:

          Values:

          Scene Center Latitude and Longitude

          Northeast (NE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

           Northwest (NW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

           Southeast (SE) Corner Latitude and Longitude

           Southwest (SW) Corner Latitude and Longitude

           Longitude Format:

           DDDMMSS.SSH

           DDD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 180

           MM = Minute(s) with a range of 0 through 59

           SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99

           H = Hemisphere with E for east and W for west

 

           Latitude Format:

           DDMMSS.SSH

           DD = Degree(s) with a range of 0 through 90

           MM = Minutes(s) with a range of 0 through 59

            SS.SS = Second(s) with a range of 0 through 59.99

            H = Hemisphere with N for north and S for south

 

Create Date

• Field Definition:  The date the ODB product ID is assigned.

           Format:

           YYYYMMDD

 

Date Added

• Field Definition:  Date the record was added to the Sales Database. This is also the date the record was made available for sale. Make sure to use the specified user format when entering a date.

           Format:

            YYYYMMDD

 

Date Updated

• Field Definition:  Date the record was last updated. Make sure to use the specified user format when entering a date.

           Format:

           YYYYMMDD

 

DOQ Format

• Field Definition:  The data format field is used to identify the format of the data.

          Values:

          single file (SNG)

          band sequential file (BSQ)

          band interleaved by line file (BIL)

          band interleaved by pixel file (BIP)

 

Entity ID

• Field Definition:  The entity ID consists of a two digit data set designator and the photo id.

           Example:

           DI00000000009000

 

Map Name

• Field Definition:  The name of the map this scene covers. DOQ quadrangle map name.

 

Metadata Date

• Field Definition:  The date the metadata was created or last updated.

           Format:

           YYYYMMDD

 

ODB Product ID

• Field Definition:  Used for internal NMD use only.

 

Oversight Agency

• Field Definition:  Identifier of agency responsible for product support.

           Values:

            Western Mapping Center (WMC)

            U.S. Forest Service (FS)

            State of Nebraska (NE)

            Mid-Continent Mapping Center (MCMC)

            Rocky Mountain Mapping Center (RMMC)

            Mapping Applications center (MAC)

            EROS (EDC)

 

Photo Source(s)

• Field Definition:  This is the project(s) roll(s), and frame number(s) of the images which were used to create the digital orthophoto quadrangle (DOQ).

 

Primary H Datum

• Field Definition:  Indicates the primary horizontal datum which for the USGS DOQ quarter-quadrangles will be NAD83.

 

Primary Source Date

• Field Definition:  If two or more photos are used to create a DOQ, the most recent takes precedence.

           Format:

           YYYYMMDD

 

Product Group

• Field Definition:  This field describes a specific type of data.

          Values:

          3.75-Min B/W

          7.5-Min B/W

          7.5-Min B/W (AK)

          3.75-Min CIR

          3.75-Min Natural Color

          7.5-Min CIR (AK)

          7.5-Min Natural Color

 

Production Date

• Field Definition:  Date produced.

           Format:

            YYYYMMDD

 

Production System

• Field Definition:  Identifier which indicates type of production system used in producing the product.

          Values:

Quadrant

• Field Definition:  This is the quadrant of the DOQ quadrangle. The 3.75-minute quadrant directional, either NW, NE, SE, or SW.

           Values:

Resolution

• Field Definition:  Measure of the sharpness of an image or feature. Measured in feet.

 

Standards Version

• Field Definition:  Detailed information on the Standards Version specifications can be found in the USGS National Mapping Program's Standards for Digital Orthophoto Quads. For more information on the processing steps used to create digital orthophotos, see the "http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/ti/DOQ/">Standards for Digital Orthophotos 12/96.

 

State

• Field Definition:  Two character abbreviation for state.

 

Status Type

• Field Definition:  "H" stands for Historical (revised by a newer version) data and "A" stands for Recommended data.

 

Submitting Agency

• Field Definition:  Identifier of the Agency who submitted product to the Operational Data Base.

 

Version Number

• Field Definition:  The Operational Data Base(ODB) version number is based on the cell ID and the product group. If only one product exists per cell ID/product group, the ODB version value is 1. If there are more than one product per cell ID/product group, then for the DOQ data the fields are considered in the order listed below

          Values:

           Primary Source Date (Most recent date takes precedence)

           Production Date (Most recent date takes precedence)

           Metadata Date (Most recent date takes precedence)

            If all fields are the same, the Create Date (most recent)

XY Unit

• Field Definition:  Unit of measurement used in X and Y coordinates of each quad
