Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC)
FRESC's mission is to provide scientific understanding and the technology needed to support sound management and conservation of our nation's natural resources, with emphasis on western ecosystems.
The Forest and Rangeland Ecosystem Science Center (FRESC) is one of about 90 science centers in the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), which in turn is part of the Department of the Interior (DOI).
As a biological research center, FRESC conducts ecological research in the amazingly diverse ecosystems of western North America and beyond. Our research increases understanding of how biological systems function, how disturbances and threats affect species and habitats, and which methods most effectively promote restoration, conservation, and other management goals.
