FRESC Olympic Field Station

The Olympic Field Station (OFS) provides scientific research and the technology needed to support sound management and conservation of natural resources. Our primary research focus is on the ecosystems and wildlife of Pacific Northwest national parks, but we also collaborate with other partners to improve understanding of Pacific Northwest ecosystems more broadly.

Located at the Administrative Headquarters of Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Washington, the OFS staff enjoys a close working relationship with and support from the National Park Service (NPS). The diversity of protected ecosystems managed by the NPS provides an incomparable opportunity to study, monitor, and understand terrestrial, aquatic, and coastal systems and ecological processes representative of the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the NPS, we collaborate with tribes, the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, and others to address critical natural resource conservation and management questions.
