Naval Reactors Facility Groundwater-Quality Monitoring
As part of the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act, it is important to evaluate the effect of Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) activities on the water quality of the eastern Snake River Plain aquifer.
Since 1989, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Naval Reactors Laboratory Field Office, Idaho Branch Office, we've operated a groundwater-quality monitoring program near the NRF.
We collect water samples from 11 to 14 wells semi-annually and samples are analyzed for selected common ions, trace metals, nutrients, radiochemical constituents, and organic compounds. Samples are analyzed by GEL Laboratories.
Below are publications associated with this project.
