Groundwater-Availability Assessments

The USGS Pacific Islands Water Science Center conducts groundwater-availability assessments in the State of Hawaiʻi and the U.S. Affiliated Pacific Islands. These assessments typically involve groundwater-data collection, water-budget modeling to estimate groundwater recharge for a variety of climate and land use conditions, and groundwater flow and transport modeling to evaluate effects of withdrawals on water levels, salinity, and discharge to streams and nearshore environments.
