Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program (CMHRP) Lidar Coordinator/National Geospatial Program (NGP) Associate National Map Liaison attending Florida Geographic Information Office and Florida GIS Managers Quarterly Meetings

Xan Fredericks, Lidar Coordinator for the CMHRP and Associate National Map Liaison to Florida, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands for the NGP, is representing the USGS at both the quarterly Florida Geographic Information Office and Florida GIS Managers quarterly meetings.

Xan will provide an update on the Florida Coastal Mapping Program, the progress with Florida 3DEP lidar surveys, and will assess new State needs. The Florida Geographic Information Office hosts quarterly meetings to discuss current Federal, State, and legislative initiatives, present GIS projects with Statewide impact, and gather information from the Statewide GIS community. During these half day meetings, State Agencies and Water Management District representatives participate in focused, short term committees to gather information and propose solutions to issues of Statewide importance. Past workgroups have focused on topics including geospatial data governance, State GIS position descriptions, long term data inventory and storage efficiencies, and opportunities for grants and cost shares.
