During week of October 17th, 2022, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Office of International Programs (OIP) team of Joel Groten, Brain McCallum, and Travis Knight completed a mission in Brazil to discuss the partnership (started in 2014) and project renewal with the National Agency for Water and Basic Sanitation (ANA) and the Geological Survey of Brazil (SGB-CPRM).

The USGS hydrologists were at ANA's headquarters on Monday (17th) and Tuesday (18th) and met with the ANAs governing body, superintendents and the CPRM board to discuss the proposals for formalizing the next phase of the project. On October 19, the USGS and ANA traveled to do a field visit in the Amazon River basin, in Manacapuru, with CPRM staff to carry out the task of measuring streamflow and sample suspended sediment.
