Comparing live capture methods for nutria (Myocastor coypus): single versus multicatch traps Comparing live capture methods for nutria (Myocastor coypus): single versus multicatch traps
Data from a nutria trap type comparison study. Single catch traps were compared to muliticatch traps at the same study sites at the same time. The study site was Sauvie Island, Oregon. The data include trap location, location ownership, location cover, and number and size of animals caught in the different trap types. Study was conducted March through April 2011.
Determining the habitat suitability of coastal waterbirds in New Jersey: impacts related to Hurricane Sandy Determining the habitat suitability of coastal waterbirds in New Jersey: impacts related to Hurricane Sandy
Understanding the long-term consequences of hurricane effects on wildlife and their habitats is critical to efficiently and effectively protect and restore important coastal wetland and marsh habitat. Hurricane Sandy caused widespread and substantial physical, environmental, ecological damage, likely impacting the food supplies, habitats, and reproductive success of many animal species...
Louisiana Barrier Island Comprehensive Monitoring Program - 2008-2016 habitat change, West Chenier Region Louisiana Barrier Island Comprehensive Monitoring Program - 2008-2016 habitat change, West Chenier Region
The Barrier Island Comprehensive Monitoring (BICM) program was developed by Louisiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) and is implemented as a component of the System Wide Assessment and Monitoring Program (SWAMP). The program uses both historical data and contemporary data collections to assess and monitor changes in the aerial and subaqueous extent of islands...

Snakehead fishes in the United States of America Snakehead fishes in the United States of America
This dataset contains information on all snakehead fishes found in the United States. It is a subset of a larger database, the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database (NAS). This information resource is an established central repository for spatially referenced biogeographic accounts of introduced aquatic species. The NAS website provides scientific reports, online/real-time queries...
Bioblitzes facilitate non-native fish tracking and interagency partnerships data Bioblitzes facilitate non-native fish tracking and interagency partnerships data
Maintaining up-to-date information on non-native organisms' distributions and species composition can be difficult, especially when species cross jurisdictional boundaries that require interagency coordination. Herein I report on the use of tools that have been used in Florida over the past seven years to assist with tracking of non-native fishes. Ten Fish Slams, where professional...
East Sabine Lake Hydrologic Restoration (CS-32): 2015 land-water classification East Sabine Lake Hydrologic Restoration (CS-32): 2015 land-water classification
The Louisiana State Legislature created Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection and Restoration Act (CWPPRA) in order to conserve, restore, create and enhance Louisiana's coastal wetlands. The wetland restoration plans developed pursuant to these acts specifically require an evaluation of the effectiveness of each coastal wetlands restoration project in achieving long-term solutions to...
Factors affecting prey availability and habitat use of nonbreeding piping plovers (Charadrius melodus) in coastal Louisiana Factors affecting prey availability and habitat use of nonbreeding piping plovers (Charadrius melodus) in coastal Louisiana
Dataset includes observations of Piping Plovers made during winter shorebird surveys on Whiskey and Trinity Islands in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana during the winter of 2013-2014. Attributes include location, behavioral, and microhabitat data as well as references to these data points in our local Access database.
Molecular, morphometric, and distribution information for the freshwater mussel genus Potamilus and newly described species, Potamilus streckersoni sp. nov. Molecular, morphometric, and distribution information for the freshwater mussel genus Potamilus and newly described species, Potamilus streckersoni sp. nov.
Inaccurate systematics confound our ability to determine evolutionary processes that have led to the diversification of many taxa. The North American freshwater mussel tribe Lampsilini, Ihering, 1901, is one of the more well-studied groups in Unionidae; however, many supraspecific relationships between lampsiline genera remain unresolved. Two genera that have been largely overlooked are...
Carbon budget assessment of tidal freshwater forested wetland and oligohaline marsh ecosystems along the Waccamaw and Savannah rivers, U.S.A. (2005-2016) Carbon budget assessment of tidal freshwater forested wetland and oligohaline marsh ecosystems along the Waccamaw and Savannah rivers, U.S.A. (2005-2016)
Data to support carbon (C) budget assessment of tidal freshwater forested wetland and oligohaline marsh ecosystems along the Waccamaw and Savannah rivers, U.S.A. This work represents the first estimates of C standing stocks, C mass balance, soil C burial, and lateral C export to aquatic environments in tidal freshwater forested wetlands undergoing transition to oligohaline marsh.
Hemichromis collection data for genetic characterization in Florida Hemichromis collection data for genetic characterization in Florida
The African Jewelfish, Hemichromis letourneuxi, is an invasive, predatory cichlid fish introduced at least once to Florida. Its native range is in northeastern Africa. First encountered in Miami in the 1960s, it has since been found west and north within the state of Florida. It thrives in a wide range of aquatic habitats, including shallow, vegetated or rocky areas of canals, tidal...
