Landsat 8 image showing northeast Mongolia
Landsat 8 image acquired on November 19, 2020 over northeast Mongolia (Path 127 Row 26). The image is shown using the shortwave infrared 1, near infrared, and red bands (bands 6,5,4).

Updated calibration parameters for OLI and TIRS have been applied to all data after the November 1 safehold, and these data have been reprocessed as Real-Time (RT) products and made available for download from EarthExplorer as the following products:

November 1 Safehold

  • Nov 1 post safehold to Nov 3: no data
  • Nov 4 to Nov 8: OLI-only
  • Nov 9: started as OLI-only then transitioned to OLI/TIRS combined
  • Nov 9 to Nov 12: OLI/TIRS combined

November 12 Safehold

  • Nov 12 post safehold to Nov 13: no data
  • Nov 14: OLI-only (3 orbits)
  • Nov 14 to present: OLI/TIRS combined

Acquisitions since the initial safehold on November 1 are still being analyzed and additional calibration parameters may be applied in reprocessing these to Collection 1 Tier 1 or Tier 2 products after the current TIRS Scene Select Mechanism (SSM) event is closed out.

An updated headline will be provided when final processing related to these safehold events is complete.
