Horizontal-to-Vertical Spectral Ratio Soundings and Depth-to-Bedrock Data, Lower Fall Creek Valley, Tompkins and Cortland Counties, New York
This data release contains horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) passive-seismic sounding data and associated depth-to-bedrock estimates collected at sites in Tompkins and Cortland Counties, New York, between September 2021 and May 2023. The release includes (1) a comma-separated values (CSV) file summarizing each survey, including site name and location, date, land-surface elevation, the fundamental resonance frequency (f0) and its uncertainty, the estimated depth to bedrock, and nearby-well information where available; (2) a set of per-site report folders, organized by county, each containing the raw ambient-noise recording (binary .trc and ASCII .dat) and a processing report (.pdf); and (3) a shapefile of the sounding locations. Estimated depth to bedrock was derived from the resonance frequency using a power-law regression equation, and reported well depths are provided for comparison. HVSR sites are named with a county prefix (C for Cortland County, TM for Tompkins County) followed by a sequential site number. Users are encouraged to consult the accompanying report (Woda and others, 2026) and the full metadata record for methods and data limitations.
