Pampanga River Delta
Detailed Description
This Landsat 8 image shows the Pampanga River Delta and Manila Bay on March 6, 2024.
The Pampanga River basin is the fourth largest in the Philippines and flows into Manila Bay through low-lying tidal flats and canals formed by fishponds. The area experiences frequent flooding, and the implementation of a flood control program in recent years is helping to restore the watershed and its ecosystems and to manage water resources.
The reflective block visible near the eastern shoreline is the New Manila International Airport. Construction started in 2020 and is planned to be completed in 2028. To the southeast of the airport area, the northern portion of the Manila metropolis area fills up the right corner.
