Maria C. Figueroa, Ph.D.
Marine Geochemist specializing in trace metal content in marine minerals and their environment, specifically in massive sulfides.
Dr. Maria Figueroa is a marine geochemist who explores authigenic iron sulfide formation in the ocean. She analyzes the trace element content from marine minerals and their surroundings to understand how they form and change over time. She is also developing a Machine Learning tool to reveal the geochemical relationships between hydrothermal vents and trace element enrichment patterns. She is fascinated by hydrothermal vent fields and hopes to contribute to the growing knowledge of their biogeochemical diversity and complexity.
