April 8, 2011 - The First Landsat Scientist
On March 17, 2011, the Landsat program lost one of its first champions, Stanley C. Freden.
Dr. Freden was a physicist who was the first project scientist for ERTS-1 (now Landsat 1) and continued in that role through Landsat 3.
