March 7, 2017 - Pecora 20 Conference Announcement

The Pecora 20 Conference will be held November 14-16, 2017 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. 

The conference theme is “Observing a Changing Earth: Science for Decisions…Monitoring, Assessment, and Projection”, and the symposium will offer a program on applications of satellite and other Earth observations to monitor, assess, and perform projections of future land and water resources, as well as big data and other analytical technologies to improve decision making utilizing satellite data.

In association with the Pecora conference, the William T. Pecora Award is presented annually to individuals or groups that have made outstanding contributions toward understanding the Earth by means of remote sensing. The Department of the Interior (DOI) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) jointly sponsor the award.   Nominations are due June 1, 2017.

June 1, 2017 – Abstracts and workshop proposals due
July 14, 2017 – Notice of acceptance
September 15, 2017 – Speaker registration
October 13, 2017 – Paper deadline (for inclusion in proceedings)

Established by the USGS and NASA in the 1970's, the Pecora meetings serve as a forum to foster the exchange of scientific information and results derived from applications of Earth observing data to a broad range of land-based resources, and also discuss ideas, policies, and strategies concerning land remote sensing.
