The Landsat Ground Station Operators Working Group (LGSOWG#39) meeting was held September 27–October 1, 2010, in Rome, Italy.

Jointly organized by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and NASA, the meeting was hosted by the European Space Agency (ESA). Participants from 14 countries, along with members of the USGS Landsat and Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) Projects, and representatives from 21 U.S. and international ground stations discussed a wide range of programmatic and technical topics.

Landsat Project presentations included Landsat 5 and Landsat 7 mission statuses as well as the latest Landsat 5 Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier operational plans, Landsat 1–5 Multispectral Scanner product development progress, Global Land Survey status, and the Landsat Global Archive Consolidation initiative. The Landsat Project also hosted an open-forum discussion on the future of Web-enabling.

LDCM presentations included Project and Ground System status, including plans and timelines for LDCM Ground System processing software availability, the LDCM Space-to-International Cooperator (IC) interface, and a briefing on the new IC Framework Agreement, which will be used for LDCM and future USGS land remote sensing missions. A Landsat Science Team update was also presented, providing information on its working group activities and several key application and research projects. NASA also provided attendees with an overview of its Earth Science Division activities and future plans.
