Landsat Pre-Collection Cloud Cover Assessment Validation

The datasets linked from the boxes below were created to validate CCA algorithms for Pre-Collection* Landsat data. These were also used to develop new CCA algorithms for the Landsat 8 sensors prior to the satellite's launch in 2013. These masks were useful for validating historic CCA algorithms, and used to train new cloud detection algorithms.

Landsat 7 Cloud Cover Assessment Validation Data

Created to validate cloud assessment algorithms for Pre-Collection Landsat 7 and Landsat 4-5 TM data, as well as to support development of similar algorithms for the Landsat 8 OLI instrument prior to launch. Known as "L7 Irish Cloud Masks".
