Landsat 8 experienced a spacecraft anomaly on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 (DOY 290), at 13:42:00 CDT (18:42:00 GMT) and recovered later that evening at approximately 23:30:00 CDT (Wednesday, October 18th 04:30:00 GMT). Science data were collected throughout the event and are being held from processing while the USGS/NASA Calibration/Validation Team inspects the data.

Landsat 8 Real-Time (RT) data acquired after the recovery, from Tuesday, October 17th at 23:30:00 CDT to the present are available for download but remain provisional.

Please note, after the Calibration/Validation team completes their assessment of the data acquired during the anomaly and performs any potential calibration updates, viable Landsat 8 acquisitions from the start of the anomaly to the present will be processed to Tiered data with all necessary and typical calibration updates.

Users who download provisional Landsat 8 RT data during this time should monitor subsequent updates from the USGS Landsat program. Another status will be provided once the Landsat 8 provisional data reprocessing timeline has been determined.
