All Landsat Collection 2 data stored in the Amazon Web Service (AWS) cloud platform include SpatioTemporal Asset Catalog (STAC) metadata. A recent STAC release incorporated improved geometric accuracy.
STAC Metadata Release Includes Improved Geometric Accuracy Standards, Records Management
Improvements and updates made during the recent STAC release include:
-
The addition of Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Analysis Ready Data for Land (CARD4L) geometric accuracy standards
-
The addition of a bit mask classifications to indicate CARD4L geometric accuracy confidence level
-
Updated functionality to automatically delete orphaned STAC records when a new product replaces an existing product
-
Resolved various data discrepancies and minor software fixes
All 40 million STAC records have been regenerated to apply the improvements listed above.
Updated Level-2 samples of the new records, along with information about STAC and accessing Landsat Collection 2 data in the cloud, can be found on the Landsat Commercial Cloud Data Access webpage.
