November 13, 2020 – Landsat 8 Placed in Safehold
On Thursday, November 12, 2020 (DOY 317), Landsat 8 experienced a spacecraft anomaly and was put into a safehold mode. Overnight the Landsat 8 Flight Operations Team was able to successfully restore the spacecraft to nominal operations.

On Saturday, November 14 (DOY 319), imaging will resume; however, the data will be stored in the USGS Landsat archive and will not be made publicly available until completion of calibration activities next week to verify the validity of the data from both instruments.
Yesterday's safehold event is unrelated to the previous Landsat 8 safehold that was announced on November 1, 2020.
Another status will be provided next week once calibration activities have been completed.
