Chemicals of Ecological Concern

Great Lakes tributaries are influenced by a multitude of stressors that may cause adverse ecological effects. The drawing represents 5 of the many significant chemicals effecting the ecosystems – Atrazine, Deet, BPA, Metolachlor, and 4-nonylphenol. It creatively and both directly and indirectly depicts the sources of these chemicals – bug spray, urban and agricultural runoff, and sewerage treatment facilities. It also relates them to the ecology which they impact, and the beauty of the great lakes region.
