Detailed Description
The Winnebago Pool is a chain of 4 shallow lakes in Wisconsin. The drawing relates real-time monitoring as well as sampling that took place on the lakes, the agricultural factors affecting the nutrient loading of the pool, and the importance of the Winnebago Pool fishery. It incorporates a map of the pool lakes along with sampling sites, sediment coring sites, and the location of the monitoring buoy.

The Winnebago Pool Lakes are shallow, productive drainage lakes that have accumulated nutrients from its mixed agricultural/forest watershed and from the Fox River. High phosphorus concentrations often result in severe blue-green algae blooms that can produce harmful toxins. The USGS is evaluating the water quality and phosphorus budget of each lake and modeling eutrophication responses.
