Sedimentation and Lake Infilling

Detailed Description

When water slows down, such as when it flows from a creek into a lake, suspended sediment can drop out of suspension and settle on the lake bed. This is known as sedimentation, and when sedimentation rates are high and the sediment collects in a lake bed, this can lead to lake infilling, where the volume of the lake shrinks as it is filled with seidment.
