Skink Found Only in Mariana Islands
Detailed Description
Emoia slevini is a little brown species of skink only found in the Mariana Islands. Brown treesnakes are one of many threats they face and likely contributed to their loss on Guam. Currently, Guam houses a single resident population of these lizards on the offshore island of Cocos, which is the only wild sanctuary on Guam that is free from snakes. All across their range these lizards have declined with very few populations persisting in the wild.
