USGS hydrologic technician preparing a sonde for deployment

Detailed Description

A U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) hydrologic technician prepares a sonde for deployment for collecting continuous water-quality data. These data are collected as part of the Fairfax County Water Resources Monitoring Network, which consists of 20 monitored watersheds that represent typical landscape conditions throughout the county. Over the last decade, the USGS and the Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division have been measuring how various parameters at monitoring stations within these watersheds differ across the landscape and are changing over time. Learn more about the Fairfax County Water Resources Monitoring Network and insights gained from the last decade of collaborative monitoring using the links to related content below.
