Detailed Description
Over the last few weeks, Woods Hole scientists have been mapping the seafloor of Nantucket Sound as part of a long-term partnership with the State of Massachusetts. Using the research vessel “Rafael,” the bathymetric and stratigraphic surveys completed by the crew will be useful for finding different shoals to nourish various beaches that have been scoured and eroded.
On a bittersweet note, after 20+ years of service, this will be Rafael’s last season. We thought it would be fun to pay our respects to our ol’ friend with a video tribute. Hope you enjoy!
