Citizen Science Month
It’s already April, and you know what that means? Winter is in the rear view, spring is finally here, and....it’s Citizen Science Month!
On Demand Custom Topographic Maps
The U.S. Geological Survey continues to advance the topographic map with on-demand custom mapping.
DevOpp's Geography Quiz April 2022
A couple months ago, TNMCorps volunteer DevOpp reached out to pitch the idea of a geography quiz for our newsletter. While not specifically structures-related, we agreed that it would be a fun way for the TNMCorps community to test their general knowledge of US geography! We hope you enjoy this slight diversion from our usual content!
No-Edit-History Points by Feature Type
Now that we’ve had a few challenges highlighting points with no edit history, we wanted to provide you with an update on how many of these points are left, where they’re located, and what feature types they consist of.
Editing Trends and the Review Queue
Back in May of 2021, we provided an overview of how the points you edit in the web app become part of the National Structures Dataset (NSD) in a newsletter article titled "Overview of the National Structures Dataset". Each time a user clicks save the point goes through a series of automatic filters to check for proper formatting, data completeness, duplicates, etc.
Mapping Challenges Updates April 2022
Quarterly mapping challenges updates and summary statistics: Challenges remain strong as volunteers complete three challenges and TNMCorps opens three more. See the updates below for where we’ve been and where we’re headed.
