Fissure 8 continues to erupt, and lava at ocean is generating a laze plume. Earthquake activity is at high level beneath Kīlauea summit as area around Halema‘u ma‘u continues to subside and slump toward the crater.
Kilauea Message Fri, 22 Jun 2018 19:23:39 HST
At 6:52 PM HST June 22, a collapse explosion event occurred at Kīlauea's summit. An ash-poor steam plume reached 500 ft above the ground and drifted SW. The energy released by the event was equivalent to a M5.3 earthquake.
Kilauea Message Thu, 21 Jun 2018 13:53:44 HST
At 1:14 PM HST, a gas and ash emission from a collapse event occurred at Kīlauea's summit. A small ash plume was blown downwind just above ground level. The event registered as a magnitude 5.3.
Kilauea Message Wed, 20 Jun 2018 04:44:28 HST
At 4:22 AM HST, another gas and ash emission from a collapse event occurred at Kīlauea's summit, producing a small plume that was blown downwind at less than 2,000 ft above ground level.
Kilauea Message Tue, 19 Jun 2018 05:33:39 HST
At 5:05 AM HST, another gas and ash emission from a small subsurface explosion occurred at Kīlauea's summit, producing a plume that was blown downwind at about 1,000 ft above ground level.
Kilauea Message Sun, 17 Jun 2018 06:53:01 HST
At 6:26 this morning, a seismic event occurred at Halema`uma`u crater which produced a relatively ash-poor gas plume rising to 5,000-7,000 ft above sea level.
Kilauea Message Sat, 16 Jun 2018 10:37:38 HST
At 10:22 AM HST, another gas and ash emission from a small subsurface explosion occurred at Kīlauea's summit, producing a plume which produced no signal below 7,000 ft above sea level according to F‘A‘ā radar.
Kilauea Message Fri, 15 Jun 2018 15:08:17 HST
On June 15, at about noon HST, an explosive event occurred at Halema`uma`u from which ash and gases rose to nearly 10,000 ft above sea level. The energy of the event was equivalent to a magnitude-5.3 earthquake.
Kilauea Message Thu, 14 Jun 2018 03:42:36 HST
At 3:19 AM HST, another small explosion occurred at Kīlauea's summit, producing a plume which rose to 6,000 ft above sea level. As with previous events, minor ashfall may occur downwind.
Kilauea Message Wed, 13 Jun 2018 11:05:44 HST
Fissure 8 continues to erupt and lava is entering the ocean. A vigorous "laze" plume rises from the active ocean entry. Kīlauea summit area around Halema‘u ma‘u continues to subside and slump toward the crater.
Kilauea Message Wed, 13 Jun 2018 04:00:35 HST
At 3:39 AM HST, another small explosion occurred at Kīlauea's summit. Preliminary magnitude is 5.4. As with previous events, minor ashfall may occur downwind.
Kilauea Message Tue, 12 Jun 2018 17:29:57 HST
HVO field crew detect temperatures as high as 430 deg C (806 deg F) in a non-erupting crack in the Lower East Rift Zone.
