A few minutes past 6 pm HST, a small but fairly ash-rich explosion occurred from Overlook Crater at the summit. The ash cloud reached about 10,000 feet above sea level before being carried to the southwest by the trade winds.

Low lava fountains are erupting from an nearly continuous 2-mile-long portion of the LERZ fissure system. Two main channel of lava are moving to the south and producing 3 ocean entries.
