Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

2025 Release - North American Breeding Bird Survey Dataset (1966 - 2024) 2025 Release - North American Breeding Bird Survey Dataset (1966 - 2024)
The 1966-2024 North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) dataset contains avian point count data for more than 700 North American bird taxa (species, races, and unidentified species groupings). These data are collected annually during the breeding season, primarily in June, along thousands of randomly established roadside survey routes in the United States and Canada. Routes are roughly...
Gravity and physical property data of northeastern California (ver. 2.0, December 2025) Gravity and physical property data of northeastern California (ver. 2.0, December 2025)
This data release contains principal facts of gravity measurements by previous studies and collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in 1994-2023 and a compilation of existing and new density and magnetic susceptibility data in northeastern California. Gravity data are processed to isostatic anomalies using reduction densities of 2670 and 2200 kilogram/cubic meter. This region is at the...
Pathological findings in rainbow snakes (Farancia erytrogramma) associated with mortality events in Virginia, USA, 2020-2022 Pathological findings in rainbow snakes (Farancia erytrogramma) associated with mortality events in Virginia, USA, 2020-2022
Snake fungal disease, which is caused by the fungal pathogen Ophidiomyces ophidiicola, is associated with severe skin infections and mortality in individual snakes. However, little has been described regarding how disease severity and impacts vary by snake populations and species. We describe mortality in rainbow snakes in Virginia, USA, linked to snake fungal disease. This data set...
Pathological drivers of coral diseases across the Arabian Peninsula, 2015 to 2018 Pathological drivers of coral diseases across the Arabian Peninsula, 2015 to 2018
Increasing trends of coral mortality is a challenge to coral reef management worldwide, and a need exists to identify the causes and pathways involved. Pathology is useful to help decipher potential causes of mortality in animals, because it illuminates agents associated with lesions and gives insights on the nature of how a host responds to said agents. To better understand the nature...
Geospatial data for impounded sediments in Pahranagat Wash above Arrow Canyon Dam, in northern Moapa Valley, Nevada Geospatial data for impounded sediments in Pahranagat Wash above Arrow Canyon Dam, in northern Moapa Valley, Nevada
This U.S. Geological Survey data release consists of vector and raster geospatial datasets used to determine the volume of sediment in Pahranagat Wash, impounded above Arrow Canyon Dam, in northern Moapa Valley, Nevada. The data release includes: 1) a raster dataset of a 1-meter resolution digital elevation model (DEM) of the study area created using a lidar (light detection and ranging)...
Bathymetry, topography, and sediment grain-size data from the Elwha River delta, Washington, July and August, 2023 Bathymetry, topography, and sediment grain-size data from the Elwha River delta, Washington, July and August, 2023
Two dams on the Elwha River, Washington State, USA trapped over 20 million m3 of sediment, reducing downstream sediment fluxes and contributing to erosion of the river's coastal delta. The removal of the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams between 2011 and 2014 induced massive increases in river sediment supply and provided an unprecedented opportunity to examine the response of a delta system...
