Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Burn probability models calibrated using past human and lightning ignition patterns in the Madrean Sky Islands, Arizona Burn probability models calibrated using past human and lightning ignition patterns in the Madrean Sky Islands, Arizona
Burn probability (BP) models involve the simulation of multiple individual wildfires across a landscape to obtain estimates of fire likelihood at any given location based on ignition source, local terrain, fuels and weather. We used FlamMap software to generate BP for 10,000 simulated fires under the three ignition scenarios: human ignition scenario (HIS), lightning ignition scenario...
Remotely sensed data and field measurements of water depth and percent cover of benthic algae from two reaches of the Buffalo National River in Arkansas acquired in August 2021 Remotely sensed data and field measurements of water depth and percent cover of benthic algae from two reaches of the Buffalo National River in Arkansas acquired in August 2021
This data release includes field measurements and remotely sensed data from two reaches of the Buffalo National River in northern Arkansas acquired in August and September of 2021 to support research on remote sensing of benthic algae from aerial photographs and satellite images. This landing page has links to child items where each type of data can be accessed: Field measurements of...
Benthic Kelp and Invertebrate Counts, California Sheephead Abundance, Substrate Rugosity Data, and Benthic Temperatures from Long-term Kelp Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Sites at San Nicolas Island, California Benthic Kelp and Invertebrate Counts, California Sheephead Abundance, Substrate Rugosity Data, and Benthic Temperatures from Long-term Kelp Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Sites at San Nicolas Island, California
Four data sets are included here to aid in assessing the influence of substrate complexity on kelp forest ecosystem stability. One data set consists of counts of a suite of kelps and benthic invertebrates on permanent band transects (swaths) at six long-term monitoring sites from 1980-2018. A second data set consists of total counts of adult California sheephead (Semicossyphus pulcher)...
Bathymetric data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island, Texas, July 2021 Bathymetric data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island, Texas, July 2021
The U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the City of South Padre Island, Texas, collected baseline bathymetric data for a near-shore area of the Laguna Madre near South Padre Island in July 2021. Bathymetric survey points were collected using real-time kinematic Global Navigation Satellite System (RTK-GNSS) equipment. The data included in this data release are presented in a comma...
Geochemical and Geospatial Data for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Groundwater Used As a Source of Drinking Water in the Eastern United States Geochemical and Geospatial Data for Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in Groundwater Used As a Source of Drinking Water in the Eastern United States
Concentrations of inorganic constituents, dissolved organic carbon (DOC), tritium, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and pharmaceuticals were measured in groundwater samples collected from 254 wells in 2019 and 2020. Concentrations of inorganic constituents, DOC, VOCs, and pharmaceuticals were measured at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)...
Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Campaigns, Southeast Virginia (ver. 2.0, December 2022) Vertical Land Motion Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Campaigns, Southeast Virginia (ver. 2.0, December 2022)
This data release is a compilation of annual Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) surveys of a network of 26 vertical control points (benchmarks) in the Hampton Roads region of southeastern Virginia. Surveys are conducted annually during the winter and are structured to collect a minimum of 24-hours of position data when possible, at an interval of 30-seconds or less at each...
