The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Digital elevation models and orthoimagery from the 2018 eruption of Veniaminof, Alaska Digital elevation models and orthoimagery from the 2018 eruption of Veniaminof, Alaska
Aerial photography surveys during and after the 2018 eruption of Veniaminof Volcano, Alaska were conducted to track the evolution of the lava flow field, active volcanic vent, and glacial ice loss from the eruption. Imagery from two surveys was processed with structure-from-motion (SfM) photogrammetric methods to derive the digital elevation models (DEMs) and orthophotos in this data...
Use of Carbon Dioxide to Prevent Settlement of Dreissenid Mussels Use of Carbon Dioxide to Prevent Settlement of Dreissenid Mussels
Dreissenid management has focused primarily on chemical tools which are efficacious, but not without ecological or economic costs. There is a need for additional control tools that are less expensive, readily available, and will not leave a residue after treatment. Carbon dioxide has these advantages over chemical pesticides and has demonstrated effectiveness for control of a range of...
Stage-Storage and Bed Material Data from the 2020 Upper Letts Lake Survey, California Stage-Storage and Bed Material Data from the 2020 Upper Letts Lake Survey, California
On October 13, 2020 a survey of Upper Letts Lake was conducted where both bathymetric and terrestrial lidar data were collected. Additionally, six bed material samples and three core samples were collected to understand the characterization of the grain-size of the lake bed. Survey data were merged with an additional lidar dataset from the USGS 3DEP program to create digital elevation...
Physical and chemical characteristics of samples collected in the East Poplar oil field study area, Fort Peck Indian Reservation, 1952-2016 (ver. 1.1, May 2024) Physical and chemical characteristics of samples collected in the East Poplar oil field study area, Fort Peck Indian Reservation, 1952-2016 (ver. 1.1, May 2024)
These produced datasets include water-quality and quality assurance results collected by the USGS and other entities from 1952 to 2016 near the City of Poplar as well as throughout the East Poplar oil field, leachate results collected from drilling core within the Cretaceous Bearpaw Formation and Monoammonium phosphate (MAP) fertilizer results collected by the USGS in 2012. The handling...
Pb-Pb and U-Pb data of Proterozoic to Phanerozoic cassiterite deposits in Russia Pb-Pb and U-Pb data of Proterozoic to Phanerozoic cassiterite deposits in Russia
Cassiterite (SnO2), a main ore mineral in tin deposits, was collected by multiple Russian geologists or obtained from museum collections in both the USA and Russia and dated at the U.S. Geological Survey. The dated samples represent four different mining districts spanning the entire country from the village of Pitkaranta in the west (31 degrees E Longitude) to the Merekskoe Deposit in...
Remotely sensed elk locations on the National Elk Refuge, Wyoming, 2017-2019 Remotely sensed elk locations on the National Elk Refuge, Wyoming, 2017-2019
Remotely sensed elk locations were derived from satellite and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) imagery collected during the winter of 2018 and the winter and spring of 2019 at the National Elk Refuge in Jackson, Wyoming and compared to locations from Global Positioning System (GPS) collars from 2017 - 2019. This data release provides the source, date, time, latitude, and longitude of elk...
