Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Vertical chemical profiles collected across haloclines in the water column of the Ox Bel Ha cave network within the coastal aquifer of the Yucatan Peninsula in January 2015 and January 2016 Vertical chemical profiles collected across haloclines in the water column of the Ox Bel Ha cave network within the coastal aquifer of the Yucatan Peninsula in January 2015 and January 2016
Natural cave passages penetrating a coastal aquifer in the Yucatan Peninsula (Mexico) were accessed to test the hypothesis that chemoclines associated with salinity gradients (haloclines) within the flooded cave networks of the karst subterranean estuary are sites of methane oxidation. Two field trips were carried out to the fully-submerged cave system located 6.6 km inland from the...
High-resolution geophysical data collected in the vicinity of Buffalo Reef, Michigan, within Lake Superior, U.S. Geological Survey Field Activity 2018-043-FA High-resolution geophysical data collected in the vicinity of Buffalo Reef, Michigan, within Lake Superior, U.S. Geological Survey Field Activity 2018-043-FA
In September 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in collaboration with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, conducted high-resolution geophysical mapping and sediment sampling to determine the distribution of historical mine tailings on the floor of Lake Superior. Large amounts of waste material from copper mining, locally known as "stamp sands," were dumped into the lake in the early 20th...
Soil surface elevation change and vertical accretion data to support the Fruit Farm Creek Mangrove Restoration Project (Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Marco Island, Florida) Soil surface elevation change and vertical accretion data to support the Fruit Farm Creek Mangrove Restoration Project (Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Marco Island, Florida)
These data represent surface elevation change and vertical accretion time series collected from a series of degraded tidal wetland sites near Goodland, Florida, USA. Surface elevation was measured using a combination of rod surface elevation tables (SETs) and feldspar marker horizons. Here, we document mangrove forest and soil structural changes within transects established in tidally...
Grain size, microfossil, and strontium data for the Kure Beach and Elizabethtown cores, North Carolina Grain size, microfossil, and strontium data for the Kure Beach and Elizabethtown cores, North Carolina
Grain size, calcareous nannofossil, and strontium data for the Cenomanian to Santonian sediments of the Kure Beach and Elizabethtown cores in North Carolina.
Forestry and soil moisture data from Sugarloaf Creek Basin, CA; 1970-2017 Forestry and soil moisture data from Sugarloaf Creek Basin, CA; 1970-2017
The data from Sugarloaf Creek Basin (SCB) in Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park contained herein include forest inventory plots which were installed in 1970 and re-measured in 2017 for tree and shrub inventories; classified vegetation layers produced from raster images collected in 1973 from aerial orthophotos and in 2014 from satellites; spatially-distributed soil moisture measurements...
Soil-Water Balance Groundwater Infiltration Model Results for the Lower Colorado River Basin Soil-Water Balance Groundwater Infiltration Model Results for the Lower Colorado River Basin
This USGS Data Release represents Soil-Water Balance (SWB) groundwater infiltration modeling results for the Lower Colorado River Basin (LCRB). The data release was produced in compliance with 'open data' requirements as a way to make the scientific data associated with USGS research efforts and publications available to the public. There are 3 separate datasets associated with this Data...
