The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Cladophora biomass and supporting data collected in the Great Lakes, 2023 (ver. 2.0, April 2025) Cladophora biomass and supporting data collected in the Great Lakes, 2023 (ver. 2.0, April 2025)
This dataset records Cladophora and associated benthic algae, collectively the Cladophora community or submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), biomass collected during the growing season of 2023 at stations located along the U.S. shoreline of Lakes Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario. It also records a variety of supporting data collected at Cladophora measurement stations. These supporting...
Laser-ablation inductively-coupled-plasma mass spectrometry and electron probe microanalyses of pyrite and pyrrhotite in tailings and ores from volcanogenic massive sulfide and sedimentary-exhalative deposits Laser-ablation inductively-coupled-plasma mass spectrometry and electron probe microanalyses of pyrite and pyrrhotite in tailings and ores from volcanogenic massive sulfide and sedimentary-exhalative deposits
Mine waste, including mill tailings, could host substantial critical mineral resources. Developing an understanding of the mineral hosts and occurrence of critical minerals in mine waste is essential to evaluating their resource potential. Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) and sedimentary-exhalative (SEDEX) deposits are important global sources of copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver...
Elemental and biological characteristics of riparian spiders collected along streams and tributaries in the Clark Fork Basin, Montana, July 2023 (ver. 1.1, March 2026) Elemental and biological characteristics of riparian spiders collected along streams and tributaries in the Clark Fork Basin, Montana, July 2023 (ver. 1.1, March 2026)
This data release includes laboratory analyses for spider tissue samples collected from 20 sites in riparian areas along streams in the upper Clark Fork Basin in western Montana during July 2023. Samples were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in cooperation with the University of Connecticut. Analyses include 56 elements, percent moisture, and nitrogen and carbon isotopes in...
Genomic data from reduced representation DNA sequencing libraries of two partially fossorial salamanders Plethodon jordani and Desmognathus wrighti from Great Smoky Mountains National Park Genomic data from reduced representation DNA sequencing libraries of two partially fossorial salamanders Plethodon jordani and Desmognathus wrighti from Great Smoky Mountains National Park
This dataset contains sample information about the origin of the Desmognathus wrighti and Plethodon jordani salamanders collected from Great Smoky Mountains National Park and sequenced, and their corresponding SNP genotype data. These data were used to examine patterns of genomic structure of these two salamander species within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The raw sequence data...
