Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Data on flea larvae survival following exposure to black-footed ferret scat Data on flea larvae survival following exposure to black-footed ferret scat
We collected fecal scat pellets from 4 black-footed ferrets (Mustela nigripes) in captivity. The ferrets were fed black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) that had previously consumed 0.005% fipronil grain. Fipronil is an insecticide from the phenylpyrazole chemical family. Specifically, ferrets were fed portions of three prairie dogs (60-80 g/day) for one week. We collected scat...
Beach foreshore slope for the Gulf Coast of the United States Beach foreshore slope for the Gulf Coast of the United States
This data release contains foreshore slopes for primarily open-ocean sandy beaches along the United States portion of the Gulf of Mexico (Texas through Florida). The slopes were calculated while extracting shoreline position from lidar point cloud data collected between 2001 and 2018. The shoreline positions have been previously published, but the slopes have not. An alongshore reference...
Surface geophysical data from Ollalie North springs, west-central Oregon Surface geophysical data from Ollalie North springs, west-central Oregon
Surface electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) data were collected in September of 2018 near Ollalie North springs in the upper McKenzie River watershed of west-central Oregon. ERT data were acquired along a single transect on the north bank of Ollalie Creek using a combination of inverse Schlumberger, dipole-dipole, and Wenner arrays. These data were collected to contribute high...
Field Notebooks from Loch Vale watershed, Rocky Mountain National Park, research from 1981 through 2023 Field Notebooks from Loch Vale watershed, Rocky Mountain National Park, research from 1981 through 2023
These files consist of scanned field notebooks from long-term research and monitoring conducted in the Loch Vale watershed, Rocky Mountain National Park from June 17, 1981, through September 19, 2023. There are 72 individual PDF files. They are accompanied by a spreadsheet that serves as a pointer to the contents of each notebook, including the range of years in each, start and end dates...
Statistically Downscaled Wind and Humidity from the ERA-5 and MERRA-2 Reanalysis over California/Nevada from 1979-2019 Statistically Downscaled Wind and Humidity from the ERA-5 and MERRA-2 Reanalysis over California/Nevada from 1979-2019
Statistical downscaling methodology was applied to global atmosphere reanalysis, using a 10 year dynamical modeled output as training data, to extend a record of wind and humidity back through the satellite era beginning 1979 or 1980. To extend the record of weather to cover a longer period and thus a greater number of significant fire weather events, statistical downscaling was...
Digital drill core logs, Stillwater Complex, Montana (ver. 2.0, March 2026) Digital drill core logs, Stillwater Complex, Montana (ver. 2.0, March 2026)
These data include individual zip files which contain TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) images of graphic drill core logs showing associated drill core information, a TIFF image of the explanation for the lithology and structure sections of the logs, Esri shapefiles of the locations of the drill hole collars, and .csv files of tabular data that were compiled from handwritten drill core...
