Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Sediment core data from Henrys Lake, Idaho Sediment core data from Henrys Lake, Idaho
This data release includes measurements of properties from sedimentary cores collected from Henrys Lake in Idaho. We present a CSV with basic information about the cores (e.g., length, collection location, water depth), and three CSVs with the fallout radionuclide (FRN), particle size analysis (PSA), and radiocarbon (RC) data. It also has three child items with x-ray computed tomography...
Coupled ADCIRC+SWAN simulations of Lake Superior with surface ice cover in February 2020 Coupled ADCIRC+SWAN simulations of Lake Superior with surface ice cover in February 2020
The analyses of the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory's (GLERL) historical ice cover data during 1973–2021 indicate that warmer winters with reduced surface ice cover have become more frequent in the last two decades (1995–2021) compared to the previous decades (1973–1995) in the Great Lakes. In the past two decades, for example, years with lower-than-normal ice cover have...
U.S. Geological Survey simulations of hydrodynamics and morphodynamics at Core Banks, NC, during Hurricane Dorian (2019) U.S. Geological Survey simulations of hydrodynamics and morphodynamics at Core Banks, NC, during Hurricane Dorian (2019)
The Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere-Wave-Sediment Transport (COAWST v3.8; Warner and others, 2019; Warner and others, 2010) modeling system was used to simulate ocean circulation, water levels, and waves that occurred during Hurricane Dorian (2019) along the US East coast. Simulations were then further downscaled to focus on the resulting inundation, dune overtopping, and barrier island...
Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) data from U.S. Army Base Fort Drum, Jefferson County, New York, 2023 (ver.1.1, May 2025) Portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) data from U.S. Army Base Fort Drum, Jefferson County, New York, 2023 (ver.1.1, May 2025)
The dataset documents results from portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) analysis conducted on a suite of sediment samples from U.S. Army Base Fort Drum, Jefferson County, New York. Most of the pXRF samples were collected from representative cells in a series of five portable optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) grids, here denoted G1 through G5, to constrain variations in grain size...
LCMAP Preliminary Duplicate Attributes Collection for CONUS Reference Data 1984-2016 land cover and land use attributes LCMAP Preliminary Duplicate Attributes Collection for CONUS Reference Data 1984-2016 land cover and land use attributes
This preliminary product contains annual land cover, land use, and change process variables for reference data plots in a .csv table. The same information available in the.csv file is also provided in a .xlsx format. The LCMAP Preliminary Duplicate Attributes Collection for Reference Data includes the attributes collected from 30-meter by 30-meter plots across the conterminous United...
Decision model simulation of the reintroduction of bull trout in the upper Lake Chelan basin, Washington Decision model simulation of the reintroduction of bull trout in the upper Lake Chelan basin, Washington
The feasibility of a potential bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) reintroduction was simulated across 12 streams and river segments in the upper Lake Chelan basin using a population matrix model. The model considered habitat availability, life history expression, and assumptions regarding constraints on potential bull trout populations. Details of the simulation framework are described...
