Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Bathymetric and Topographic Surveys at Lucky Peak Lake Intake Structures, Boise County, Idaho, 2023 Bathymetric and Topographic Surveys at Lucky Peak Lake Intake Structures, Boise County, Idaho, 2023

In October 2023, the U.S. Geological Survey Idaho Water Science Center (IDWSC), in cooperation with Lucky Peak Power Plant Project (LPPPP), completed bathymetric and topographic surveys at two dam intake structures using multibeam bathymetry and boat-mounted Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR). Dam operators indicated a possibility that sediment aggradation was occurring near the intake...

Arsenic concentration results utilizing a novel field integrated biosensor system, New Hampshire, 2019 Arsenic concentration results utilizing a novel field integrated biosensor system, New Hampshire, 2019

This dataset reports total arsenic (AsTot) results analyzed using an in-field biosensor system, Field-Ready Electrochemical Detector for Arsenic (FRED-Arsenic), developed by FREDsense Technologies Corp., Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Samples were collected from two public-supply wells (NH-SGW 93 and NH-SGW 65) and one private well (NH-KFW 87). NH-SGW 93 and NH-KFW 87 both withdraw water from...

Larval fish and water profile data from Lake Huron in 2017 (ver. 2.0, February 2026) Larval fish and water profile data from Lake Huron in 2017 (ver. 2.0, February 2026)

These data consist of larval fish and water profile data collected with a nearshore to offshore transect approach at 9 transects throughout Lake Huron. Larval fish and their stomach contents were identified, enumerated, and measured (if possible) using a dissecting microscope. These data were used to calculate densities of potential fish prey items (what is available in the environment)...

Data release for land-use and land-cover change in the Lower Rio Grande ecoregions, Texas (2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011 time intervals) Data release for land-use and land-cover change in the Lower Rio Grande ecoregions, Texas (2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011 time intervals)

These data were created to describe the causes of land cover change that occurred in the Lower Rio Grande (LRG) Valley and Alluvial Floodplain ecoregions of Texas for the time intervals of 2001 to 2006 and 2006 to 2011. The study area covers approximately 600,000 hectares at the southernmost tip of Texas and is one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. Some of the largest...

Pesticides in tree swallows from the Milwaukee Estuary, WI Pesticides in tree swallows from the Milwaukee Estuary, WI

Legacy contaminants and contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) were assessed in tree swallow (Tachycineta bicolor) tissue and diet samples from three drainages in the Milwaukee Estuary, Wisconsin to understand exposures and possible effects.

Evaluating the effectiveness of joint species distribution modeling for riverine fish communities Evaluating the effectiveness of joint species distribution modeling for riverine fish communities

Species Distribution Models (JSDMs) allow for accounting for both environmental predictors and species dependencies within a single statistical modeling frameworks. However, it is unclear under what conditions incorporating residual species dependencies (conditional predictions) might outperform predictions made using only environmental information (marginal predictions). Here, we...
