Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Daily Estimates of Chlorophyll Concentration for 82 U.S. Rivers Daily Estimates of Chlorophyll Concentration for 82 U.S. Rivers

This data release contains modeled daily chlorophyll concentration for 82 streams and rivers across the conterminous United States. Estimates of daily chlorophyll concentration were generated using an extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) (Chen & Guestrin, 2016) machine learning model and various measures of water quality, reach characteristics, and meteorology. Child Items in this data...

Landsat 9 Collection 2 cloud truth mask validation set Landsat 9 Collection 2 cloud truth mask validation set

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center in Sioux Falls, SD developed a cloud validation dataset from 48 unique Landsat 9 Collection 2 images. These images were selected at random from the Landsat 9 archive from various locations around the world. While these validation images were subjectively designed by a single analyst, they provide...

DGMETA (Version 1): Dissolved Gas Modeling and Environmental Tracer Analysis Computer Program DGMETA (Version 1): Dissolved Gas Modeling and Environmental Tracer Analysis Computer Program

DGMETA (Dissolved Gas Modeling and Environmental Tracer Analysis) is a Microsoft Excel-based computer program that is used for modeling air-water equilibrium conditions from measurements of dissolved gases and for computing concentrations of environmental tracers that rely on air-water equilibrium model results. DGMETA can solve for the temperature, salinity, excess air, fractionation of...

REDPy - Repeating Earthquake Detector in Python (Version 1.0.0) REDPy - Repeating Earthquake Detector in Python (Version 1.0.0)

REDPy (Repeating Earthquake Detector in Python) is a tool for automated detection and analysis of repeating earthquakes in continuous data. It works without any previous assumptions of what repeating seismicity looks like (that is, does not require a template event). Repeating earthquakes are clustered into families based on waveform similarity via cross-correlation across multiple...

Density and salinity data to validate an equation of state for hypersaline water in Great Salt Lake, Utah, 2021–2022 Density and salinity data to validate an equation of state for hypersaline water in Great Salt Lake, Utah, 2021–2022

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides salinity and density data collected at Great Salt Lake (GSL), Utah monitoring locations during 2021–2022. Temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were collected using an In-Situ AquaTROLL 600. Sample density was measured using an Anton Paar DMA 35Ex at 5° increments between 5° and 40° C. Practical salinity was...

Vertical water-quality profiles collected at Great Salt Lake monitoring sites, Utah, 1995–2022 Vertical water-quality profiles collected at Great Salt Lake monitoring sites, Utah, 1995–2022

This U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Data Release provides vertical water-quality profiles collected at Great Salt Lake, Utah monitoring sites during 1995–2000 and 2011–2022. Data were collected using an In-Situ Multi-Parameter TROLL 9500, In-Situ AquaTROLL 500, In-Situ AquaTROLL 600, or YSI EXO2 Multiparameter Sonde. Recorded parameters include water temperature, specific conductance...
