Data Releases

The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Chemical Composition of Bed Sediment and Water Samples Collected in the Houston Ship Channel or Patrick Bayou outlet near the Patrick Bayou Superfund Site, Deer Park, Texas, 2021 Chemical Composition of Bed Sediment and Water Samples Collected in the Houston Ship Channel or Patrick Bayou outlet near the Patrick Bayou Superfund Site, Deer Park, Texas, 2021

Patrick Bayou, a section of the Houston Ship Channel near Deer Park, Texas, has accumulated permitted industrial wastewater discharges, municipal wastewater treatment plant effluent, and stormwater runoff from adjacent industrial facilities and nearby urban and residential areas. These discharges are suspected to be the primary sources of the sediment contamination in the Patrick Bayou...

MODFLOW-NWT simulations of regional groundwater flow under mining and pre-mining scenarios near the Mesabi Iron Range within the St. Louis River Basin, northeastern Minnesota MODFLOW-NWT simulations of regional groundwater flow under mining and pre-mining scenarios near the Mesabi Iron Range within the St. Louis River Basin, northeastern Minnesota

The U.S. Geological Survey developed two steady-state finite-difference regional groundwater-flow models using the MODFLOW-NWT computer code. These models simulate flow in the area of historical iron mining on and around the portion of the Mesabi Iron Range that is in the St. Louis River basin in northeastern Minnesota. The models are composed of 8 layers each; the upper four...

U.S. Geological Survey Mineral Commodity Summaries 2023 Data Release U.S. Geological Survey Mineral Commodity Summaries 2023 Data Release

This database contains the United States salient statistics and world production statistics for over 88 nonfuel mineral commodities. Salient statistics for the United States includes items such as production, imports, exports, price, stocks, apparent consumption, and/or net import reliance for nonfuel mineral commodities. The database contains two separate table files (entities) in CSV...

Strain induced molecular heterogeneity in ancient sedimentary organic matter mapped at nanoscales using optical photothermal infrared spectroscopy Strain induced molecular heterogeneity in ancient sedimentary organic matter mapped at nanoscales using optical photothermal infrared spectroscopy

Here we report ultra-high resolution infrared mapping of organic matter functional group distribution in Tasmanites (algal microfossils) from the Upper Devonian Ohio Shale using optical photothermal infrared spectroscopy (O-PTIR). O-PTIR is capable of rapidly measuring the vibrational response of samples in situ with ~500-nm spatial resolution, well below the infrared diffraction limit...

PMIP3/CMIP5 lgm simulated temperature data for North America downscaled to a 10-km grid PMIP3/CMIP5 lgm simulated temperature data for North America downscaled to a 10-km grid

This data set consists of monthly long-term mean temperature data (degrees C) for the last glacial maximum (21 ka) downscaled to a 10-km grid of North America. The 10-km data were derived using simulated temperature data from 10 general circulation models (GCMs; CCSM4, CNRM-CM5, COSMOS-ASO, FGOALS-g2, GISS-E2-R, IPSL-CM5A-LR, MIROC-ESM, MPI-ESM-P-OA, MPI-ESM-P-OAC, and MRI-CGCM3) run...

Capture method, habitat, length, and diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) in the Mississippi River Basin, 2017-2019 Capture method, habitat, length, and diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp (Mylopharyngodon piceus) in the Mississippi River Basin, 2017-2019

An inventory (enumeration and taxonomic identification) of diet items consumed by wild-caught black carp, based on the examination of gut contents from fish that were collected in the lower Mississippi River drainage of the U.S.
