Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Seafloor Elevation Change from the 1930s to 2016 Along the Florida Reef Tract, USA Seafloor Elevation Change from the 1930s to 2016 Along the Florida Reef Tract, USA
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center conducted research to quantify bathymetric changes along the Florida Reef Tract (FRT) from Miami to Key West within a 982.4 square-kilometer area. USGS staff calculated changes in seafloor elevation from the 1930s to 2016 using digitized historical hydrographic surveys (H-sheets) acquired by the U.S. Coast...
Historical Ice Breakup Dates for Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior (ver. 5.0, September 2022) Historical Ice Breakup Dates for Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior (ver. 5.0, September 2022)
Ice breakup dates of Chequamegon Bay, Lake Superior from 1911 to 2022 were compiled by Lori Evrard (USGS, GLSC, Lake Superior Biological Station, Ashland, WI). Ice breakup date is the day in spring when winter ice cover substantially leaves a water body. Local residents deem "ice breakup" as when the ice moves northeast of a line straight across Chequamegon Bay out from Ellis Avenue...
mapRandomForest---Monthly flow estimation in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain by means of Random Forest Modeling mapRandomForest---Monthly flow estimation in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain by means of Random Forest Modeling
The code included in this package, when combined with data retrieved from an associated ScienceBase archive, is designed to allow for reasonable monthly total and baseflow volumes to be estimated at arbitrary locations within the Mississippi Embayment as part of the Mississippi Alluvial Plain (MAP) Project. The resulting surface water volume estimates were used as inputs to associated...
Chirp sub-bottom data collected in 2019 in Whiskeytown Lake, California during USGS field activity 2018-686-FA Chirp sub-bottom data collected in 2019 in Whiskeytown Lake, California during USGS field activity 2018-686-FA
High-resolution chirp sub-bottom data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center in May of 2019 in Whiskeytown Lake, California using an Edgetech SB-512i sub-bottom profiler. These data were collected to measure possible debris flows into the lake during the 2018-2019 rainy season following the July-August 2018 Carr fire that burned vegetation...
Foraminiferal Mg/Ca Data from IODP Sediment Core U1446 Foraminiferal Mg/Ca Data from IODP Sediment Core U1446
In 2019 the magnesium-to-calcium (Mg/Ca) ratios were measured in the tests of planktic foraminiferal species, Globigerinoides ruber (white variety), in a subset of samples from Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) sediment core U1146 from the Bay of Bengal drilled November 2014 to January 2015. For further information regarding data collection and/or processing methods, refer to the...
Hydrodynamic and sediment transport model of San Pablo Bay, California, Nov-Dec 2014 Hydrodynamic and sediment transport model of San Pablo Bay, California, Nov-Dec 2014
A three-dimensional hydrodynamic and sediment transport model of San Pablo and Suisun Bays was constructed using the Delft3D4 (D3D) modeling suite (Deltares, 2021a) to simulate water levels, flow, waves, and suspended sediment for time period of Nov 1 to Dec 31, 2014. This data release describes the construction and validation of the model application and provides input files suitable to...
