Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Northern Lake Michigan Gillnet Assessment 1998-2024 Northern Lake Michigan Gillnet Assessment 1998-2024
Annual spring (May) and fall (late October through early November) gillnet assessment surveys were conducted by researchers at the USGS Great Lakes Science Center (GLSC) in northern Lake Michigan, including the Northern Refuge, between 1998-2024. Total length, weight, sex, maturity, and sea lamprey wounds were recorded for each lake trout and burbot caught in the gill nets. Lake trout...
Avian Point-Count Data from Boreal Alaska and Maps of Predicted Population Density for Lesser Yellowlegs, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Rusty Blackbird, 2001-2020 Avian Point-Count Data from Boreal Alaska and Maps of Predicted Population Density for Lesser Yellowlegs, Olive-sided Flycatcher, and Rusty Blackbird, 2001-2020
This data package contains 1) field data and 2) predicted distributions of three species of boreal-nesting birds in interior Alaska: Lesser Yellowlegs (Tringa flavipes), Olive-sided Flycatcher (Contopus cooperi), and Rusty Blackbird (Euphagus carolinus). The data are compiled from several monitoring programs: Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey, Alaska Off-road Point-count Program, Susitna...
Nitrate and Chloride Data for evaluating Decadal Changes in Groundwater Nitrate and Chloride Data for evaluating Decadal Changes in Groundwater
The U.S. Geological Survey’s National Water Quality Network (NWQN) is the primary source of data to monitor trends in contaminants in groundwater in the United States. However, other data sources are available to evaluate trends. The Water Quality Portal (WQP) and the National Groundwater Monitoring Network (NGWMN) portal provide data that can be used for groundwater quality trends in...
Topographic data, aerial imagery, and GPS data collected during uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) operations at Sesuit Marsh, Dennis, Massachusetts, August 12, 2024 Topographic data, aerial imagery, and GPS data collected during uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) operations at Sesuit Marsh, Dennis, Massachusetts, August 12, 2024
Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS) were used to collect aerial remote sensing data over Sesuit Marsh in Dennis, MA. Raw data from aerial surveys include aerial images from natural color (RGB) and multispectral cameras and raw lidar data. These datasets were processed to produce high resolution digital elevation models (DEM), image mosaics, and lidar point clouds (LPC) to provide...
Observation of unusual neonate-clustering behavior observed post molting on maternal New River Crayfish in mesocosms Observation of unusual neonate-clustering behavior observed post molting on maternal New River Crayfish in mesocosms
Cambarus chasmodactylus (New River Crayfish) is one of the largest crayfish species occurring in the Appalachian Mountains and occupies a niche similar to several highly imperiled crayfishes within the same region.Little is known about the behavior and relationship between female crayfishes of this species and their young, and this unexpected clustering behavior of neonates about the...
Wildlife locations in select areas, 2014-2023 Wildlife locations in select areas, 2014-2023
USGS researchers surveyed talus patches across the western USA, in conjunction with numerous partners during 2014-2023, inclusive. Data are locations at which wildlife species of statutory interest to state and federal partners were detected, as well as covariate data associated with each location.
