Data Releases
The data collected and the techniques used by USGS scientists should conform to or reference national and international standards and protocols if they exist and when they are relevant and appropriate. For datasets of a given type, and if national or international metadata standards exist, the data are indexed with metadata that facilitates access and integration.

Tennessee groundwater well locations from 7.5-minute quadrangle maps Tennessee groundwater well locations from 7.5-minute quadrangle maps
The state of Tennessee is divided into 805 individual 7.5-minute topographic quadrangle maps. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) maintains an archive of paper maps that were utilized for estimating groundwater well locations. Each well location was plotted by hand and marked with corresponding water well data. These hand-plotted locations represent the most...
Quantitative polymerase chain reaction and confocal microscopy data describing cell penetrating peptide-mediated delivery of gene silencing agents to the invasive common reed Phragmites australis Quantitative polymerase chain reaction and confocal microscopy data describing cell penetrating peptide-mediated delivery of gene silencing agents to the invasive common reed Phragmites australis
These data describe delivery of novel gene silencing agents (GSAs) to leaf tissue of the invasive common reed Phragmites australis ssp. australis using cell penetrating peptides (CPPs). These CPPs were tested for their ability to infiltrate P. australis leaf tissue using confocal microscopy. In addition, a series of novel gene silencing agents targeting a putative phytoene desaturase...

Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, August 29, 1984 Digital elevation model of the lava dome in the crater of Mount St. Helens, August 29, 1984
The catastrophic, explosive eruption of Mount St. Helens, Washington, on May 18, 1980, is the most well-known eruption of the volcano. Less well known is the May 18 eruption marked the beginning of a period of eruptive activity that lasted through 1986. Beginning in October 1980, a series of 17 dome-building episodes added millions of cubic meters of lava to the crater floor. Most of the...
Preliminary Landslide Inventory for Landslides Triggered by Hurricane Helene (September 2024) Preliminary Landslide Inventory for Landslides Triggered by Hurricane Helene (September 2024)
We present a preliminary point inventory of landslides triggered by Hurricane Helene, which impacted southern Appalachia between September 25 and 27, 2024. This inventory is a result of a rapid response mapping effort led by the U.S. Geological Survey’s Landslide Assessments, Situational Awareness, and Event Response Research (LASER) project. LASER collaborated with state surveys and...
Microbial analyses of water from private wells in southwestern Wisconsin, 2019 to 2020. Microbial analyses of water from private wells in southwestern Wisconsin, 2019 to 2020.
Private wells (n = 138) were sampled by large- and small-volume sampling methods in Grant, Iowa, and Lafayette Counties, Wisconsin, USA in 2019 and 2020. Well water samples were analyzed for microorganisms by quantitative polymerase chain reaction at the Laboratory for Infectious Disease and the Environment (LIDE). Gene targets for viruses, bacteria, and protozoa were analyzed, including...
