Gulf of Mexico


Gulf of Mexico ecosystems are comprised of highly productive interconnected landscapes from open ocean and coastal barriers to estuarine bays and wetlands that support a diversity of organisms. The USGS works with Federal, State, local, and academic partners to provide and communicate scientific information needed to understand, manage, conserve and restore these important Gulf resources.

Oil slick morphology derived from AVIRIS measurements of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill: Implications for spatial resolution requirements of remote sensors
